Container trees can be planted at any time of the year, but crapes are especially tolerant of summer heat. They actually thrive in the heat. Depending on the variety chosen, your trees will arrive at your door approximately 6-12 inches tall. After the first frost these trees will arrive dormant without leaves. This is the perfect time to plant them. I am a school teacher and I grow hundreds of crape in my backyard. The town I live in, Waxahachie, is nicknamed the Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas. Shop your local nursery and see how much you are going to save!! Crapes will easily grow 2-4 feet a year and you can easily double the size of your trees in just a few months.
