Impatiens flower seeds can be started indoors 8 weeks before the end of frost season. Fill your containers and flower beds with this free blooming show star! Baby Impatiens walleriana are great shade flowers. They are annuals for Zones 3 - 10. Pinch back any spent blooms to encourage a continued display of color. With a temperature of 72 - 76F, germination is usually within 10 days. Transplant the young plants outdoors after danger of frost has passed. Space the plants 8 - 12 inches apart. Grow in partial shade to full shade and in moist, well-drained soil. Impatiens walleriana are sweet little annuals that offer lots of color for the shady areas of the landscape. This Baby Pink variety has soft pink blooms that look wonderful in containers or baskets on a shaded patio. Or, grow them in the front of a shady flower border. Impatiens are profuse bloomers. They bloom from spring through fall. They also make great houseplants and can add some welcome color to the home during the winter months.
