Clematis heracleifolia is a herbaceous perennial shrub in the Ranunculaceae family. It is called the tube clematis. It is native to central and northern China. This Clematis has a scrambling habit, unlike most that have a climbing habit. It can grow to 3-4 feet tall and travel out to 8 feet. The flowers are tubular that grow up the stem in late Spring to late Summer. It can be grown in most soils with good drainage. It likes to be filtered to full sun and watered regularly. Zones 3-8 Germination Mix seeds and soil together in a ziplock bag. Write the name of the seed on the bag. Place in the refrigerator for 60 days. Seeds should be sown into well-drained, sandy compost and covered to their own depth with sand or grit. Place the seed tray in filtered light and keep it moist. Seeds germinate very slowly and may take more than a year to germinate.
