USDA Growing Zones 5a-9b32 Inches Tall & WidePlant in Full SunlightNon-invasive butterfly bush!At 32 inches tall and wide, Lo & Behold Ruby Chip butterfly bush is perfect to plant among perennials. New in 2021, Ruby Chips flurries of reddish-magenta flowers attract butterflies, bees, hummers and other good bugs. Plant the summer-long blooming shrub in full sun. It is drought and heat tolerant. Mixed with perennials, Ruby Chips long blooming habit creates a season of pretty fragrant flowers to carry the bed as other perennials move in and out of season.Ruby Chip butterfly bushs long blooming characteristic makes it a good choice for containers, too. Its mounded growth works well planted singly in a pot, or if mixed with other plants, it does well as filler.Lo & Behold Ruby Chip® Butterfly Bush CareThis is a fairly low maintenance shrub. In colder climates, leave the plant upright to protect from winter temperatures. (The spent flowers add a bit of winter interest.) Cut it back to about 4 inches from the ground in spring. Many butterfly bushes are slow to break dormancy, so give this plant a chance to show life. In warmer climates, tidy up the plant as needed. It is not necessary to remove dead flowers (called deadheading) to keep the plant blooming all summer. In some areas of the United States, butterfly bush may be considered invasive. The greatest offender was Buddleia davidii, with some of the first varieties on the market. These newer varieties are considered sterile and do not have a tendency to self-sow. Insects still visit the plants even if the flowers are sterile. If you are still uncertain, you can check with your state or county authorities to see whats allowed in your area. We always follow each states guidelines when selling plants to customers.Lo & Behold Ruby Chip® Butterfly Bush SpacingUse one in a 12 inch container or larger. Use one in mixed containers as a centerpiece or filler, depending on the size of container and companion plants. In the landscape, plant about 32 inches apart.Lo & Behold Ruby Chip® Butterfly Bush InformationUSDA Hardiness Zones: 5-9Plant Type: ShrubSunlight Exposure: Full SunMature Height: 30 - 32 InchesMature Width: 30 - 32 InchesPlant Spacing: 30 - 32 InchesGrowth Habit: MoundedFlower Color(s): PinkFlower Shade: RubySeasonal Interest: Summer through FallFoliage Type: DeciduousFoliage Color(s): GreenAttracts: Butterflies, HummingbirdsResists: DeerTolerates: Heat, DroughtFeatures: Attracts Pollinators, Fragrant, Low Maintenance, Continuous Blooming or RebloomingUses: Border Plant Container Edging Plant Landscape Mass PlantingPlant Brand: Proven WinnersBotanical/Scientific Name: Buddleia x 'SMNBDD' USPP 32,399, Can PBRAF | Bushes > Butterfly Bushes Proven Winners BUDRC1PW
