Side release buckles are one of the most common and reliable types of buckles that, when combined with your choice of high-quality webbing, can be fashioned into a side release buckle belt. The belts feature a simple but classic design that is efficient and versatile. Depending on the type of buckle you choose, they can also be airport/metal detector safe. When selecting your material it is important to know a little about its characteristics. Polypropylene is a medium-duty webbing that has excellent UV protection and moisture resistance, making it a great webbing for outdoor use. Polypropylene however, does not have good abrasion resistance. Flat nylon does have good abrasion resistance as well a thick weave giving it a comfortable padded feel. However, nylon is not typically recommended for outdoor applications because it does not have UV protection, and it absorbs water relatively quickly making it susceptible to rot and mildew. Polyester combines the best aspects of both flat nylon and polypropylene. It has remarkable UV, moisture, and abrasion resistance. Polyester also sublimates well meaning that is available in several stylish patterns. Belt sizes are as follows: Regular:.....up to 38 inch waist (48 inches in length) Large:........up to 48 inch waist (60 inches in length) XLarge:......up to 60 inch waist (72 inches in length)
