Tesla's robotaxi service is up and running, for a specially-invited group of Tesla fans – who are unsurprisingly positive.

One tester, Bearded Tesla Guy, described the app’s interface as “basically Uber.” Many had some difficulty finding the pickup location of their waiting Tesla robotaxi.

In ramping up robotaxi service, Tesla is hoping to slingshot past Waymo, another autonomous car service that operates in Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Austin, according to its website.

You can also adjust your temperature settings, seat position and more from the companion app. Unlike a typical Tesla, the robotaxi has buttons to ask the car to pull over or stop in lane.

It was unclear if Tesla paid for the influencers’ trips to Austin, their robotaxi fares or for social media posts about the service. The company hasn't responded to requests for comment.
