Samsung has recalled hundreds of thousands of electric ranges used for stovetops in Canada because they're a fire hazard.

A series of Samsung slide-In electric ranges has been recalled due to a fire hazard. The issue is that the front-mounted knobs on the stove are so sensitive that people and even pets can “accidentally activate” them by bumping into them, posing a fire hazard if flammable objects have been left on top of the range.

Health Canada issued the recall for several models of Samsung’s electric slide-in ranges because the front-mounted knobs can 'accidently activate.'

The agency waned that humans, particularly small children, and pets can accidentally activate the front-mounted knobs posing a fire risk.

Officials say humans and pets can accidentally activate the front-mounted knobs, creating a fire hazard. The company has received over 57 reports of incidents in Canada and seven reports of injuries. After nationwide reports of incidents and several injuries, Health Canada has announced the recall of thousands of electric ranges.

Due to a fire hazard, a recall has been issued for 326,250 Samsung Slide-In Electric Ranges (ovens) sold in Canada (manufactured in Thailand). Health Canada noted that the affected products were sold from 2013 to August 2024.

Numerous models of the Samsung Slide-In Electric Ranges are being recalled after issues with the front-mounted knobs accidentally being turned on.

More than 300,000 Samsung electric oven ranges have been recalled in Canada due to being a potential fire hazard.
