Read, accused of leaving John O’Keefe to die in a 2022 snowstorm after hitting him with her car, was acquitted of both second-degree murder and leaving the scene of an accident causing death.

At the center of it all is Karen Read, the woman who was dating Boston cop John O'Keefe and is charged with killing him. Her charges are manslaughter, motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of a deadly crash. Two narratives have since emerged.
