An Israeli airstrike targeted a residential building in the Mezzah suburb west of the Syrian capital Damascus, killing seven civilians and injuring 11 others, Syrian state media reported on Tuesday.

Israel's military claimed it has killed a Hezbollah member in Syria who relayed intelligence against Israel in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, while Syrian media reported that Israeli airstrikes hit targets in Syria.

Human Rights Watch on Monday said Israeli strikes near the main Lebanon-Syria border crossing were putting civilians at "grave risk" as they prevented them from fleeing and hampered humanitarian operations.

Since the beginning of Israel's massive aerial campaign on Lebanon which was launched last week, some 1,000 people have fled the country to neighbouring Syria, the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) said on Monday.
