LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Through praying, listening and seeking healing and reconciliation, the bishops, in the new draft, are committing to revitalizing their Native Catholic ministry.

New guidelines outlining outreach to Native American Catholics was completed as details emerge of decades of widespread abuses inflicted on Native children at Catholic boarding schools.

The effort is motivated in part by a desire to make amends for the widespread abuses inflicted on Native youths at scores of Catholic-run boarding schools in the 19th and 20th centuries.
