May is known as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month and AAA is reminding motorist to be aware and to share the road safely with bikers.

With the weather warming up, you might start to see more bicyclists on the road, or be tempted to go on a bike ride yourself. Whether you're a driver or bicyclist, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it's important to take every step you can to share the roads and keep everyone safe.

CTDOT listed several tips for maintaining safety on the roadways when encountering motorcyclists. First and foremost, always check your blind spots, as motorcycles are smaller than most vehicles and can be difficult to spot when changing lanes. Take your time before merging and search your blind spots before maneuvering.
