CBS has renewed the freshman series Elsbeth for the 2024-2025 season. In Deadline’s latest Renewal Status Report released on Wednesday, Co-Editor-in-Chief Nellie Andreeva projected Elsbeth would be renewed for a second season. This leaves The Equalizer, NCIS: Hawai’i, So Help Me Todd and CSI: Vegas pending renewal/cancellation news.

April 18 (UPI) -- CBS announced Thursday that it has renewed Elsbeth for a second season. The Season 1 finale airs May 23. Elsbeth stars Carrie Preston as her Good Wife and Good Fight lawyer character, Elsbeth Tascioni. Tascioni moves from Chicago to New York to work with NYPD.

CBS has now picked up 11 of its scripted series for the 2024-25 season, with Elsbeth joining fellow rookies Tracker and NCIS: Sydney and veteran series Fire Country, Ghosts, NCIS, The Neighborhood, SWAT and all three entries in the FBI franchise.

Elsbeth has charmed audiences with its singular blend of delightful humor, distinctive ‘how-done-it’ storytelling, and the inventive, brilliant quirkiness of Elsbeth Tascioni,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment.

Just hours after we’d looked at the hopeful chances for Elsbeth, CBS came in with the exciting news. A second season is officially happening. As we’d mentioned earlier today, a renewal looked like a good option for the network.
